Well, I’m usually pretty darn healthy…but it’s not uncommon at the changing of the seasons for a darn head and chest cold to latch onto me with a vengeance! And YES, you guessed it! I’m struggling with that right now.
I’m sure you’ve experienced the same symptoms I’m battling currently; severe sinus pressure and pain, dripping nose…that for some unknown reason will NOT blow…just a damn perpetual DRIP! Ugg! You know what I’m talking about…can’t even sleep on your stomach at night because a little wet spot develops on your pillowcase where your nose is. So, there is that constant SNIFF! SNIFF! going on. <le sigh!> Foggy brain, body aches, open-mouth breathing. Gravelly voice. Chest pressure and congestion. Dry lips from the damn mouth-breathing. And zero energy.
Heaven forbid you should need to TALK to someone…especially a business contact!
Yes, if I get sick this is usually the brand I’m served up. So, I have plenty of experience treating it.
Over the years I’ve discovered that all those over-the-counter (OTC) “remedies” just prolong symptoms for me and make an already uncomfortable situation ten times worse.
What have I learned to do instead? I drink tons of apple cider vinegar (ACV) in water! But not just any old apple cider vinegar! You have to make sure it’s the raw, unfiltered, organic kind. This is the kind that has what is called “The Mother” still in it. That’s where the magical nutritional powerhouse is found!
As far as a recipe is concerned, I normally just “eyeball” quantities. Typically, I splash a healthy 1 -2 Tablespoons into the bottom of a tall glass (maybe 16 – 20 ounces) then fill ‘er up with refrigerated water.
Tap water is also just fine.
Why apple cider vinegar, you might ask? Well, if you really want to learn about all the incredible Healing Properties of Apple Cider Vinegar you can follow that link to a very informational WordPress blog about the subject. Or you can do a web search, like I did, on it.
All I know is that it works.
I FEEL better when I follow this protocol and that’s why I do it!
In addition to that…I typically alternate that with sipping BIG mug-fulls of homemade Hot Lemonade. It’s really quick and easy to make and soooo soothing!
Here’s my basic recipe:
1 BIG coffee mug
Juice of 1 lemon – or use 1 – 2 Tbl. bottled Real Lemon lemon juice
Healthy sprinkle of Cayenne Pepper
1 Packet Stevia for natural, no-calorie/no-carb sweetness
Then add steaming hot water from your tea kettle right up to the top!
Follow these recommendations and you might not feel better over-night. But I’ll bet, if you’re anything like me, you will be on the mend pretty darn quick and without the need for pharmaceuticals or OTC drugs!
Do you have any Head and Chest Cold remedies you could share with me? I’d LOVE to hear all about what YOU do to get better asap!
Wish me luck!
Until Next Time…
